Crank Ghost Hands
When we created Isabella, it was late in the year and being pressed for time, had to "make do" with a pair of light, latex rubber gloves for hands. The gloves worked ok however, shortly after Halloween I decided that, for all the attention she gets, Isabella deserved a better pair of hands. The new hands are more worthy of a FCG and look much better than the old ones.  After a few attempts using different ideas to create hands, I decided on this method. You must be careful with these hands if you choose to make them this way. They are VERY delicate and the fingers could break off easily if mishandled. They are lightweight, they glow well, and look great in action.
These hands are constructed primarily out of Crayola Model Magic. I had some scrap pieces of foam board (used for making cemetery stones) and used it as a form for the flat part of the hand. I took an old rolling pin and rolled out the Crayola Model Magic into a flat piece (like making pie dough) and wraped it around the foam leaving enough over the end to simulate a wrist. This is where the wire from the FCG arm will insert. Just stick the arm wire into the foam block.
I used my own hand to try to guage the length of the fingers. I rolled the Model Magic into finger-like pieces and attached them to the hand part. This is where the weak point is for the fingers so when its dry, be careful.
The hook for the line to the crank was fashioned out of a large paper clip and inserted completely through the foam and twisted on the underside. The line attaches to the top loop. (Insert the clip closer toward the wrist area of the hands.)
Its amazing how really good these hands look in action.
